Chelsea after Cresswell
Couldn't see it done anywhere, but.............

Hope this is not true and it does quote "sources close to" which often means, made up bollocks, but have been a few rumours flying around about him and interest from Man City and Arsenal, has had a decent season so speculation will happen, so someone (ESPN, Hack) has now added Chelsea to the list.

Lets hope he aint going nowhere............

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/2388752/chelsea-to-target-aaron-cresswell-if-filipe-luis-departs-sources

Chelsea are eyeing highly-rated West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell in case Filipe Luis leaves this summer, sources have told ESPN FC.

Luis has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after failing to establish himself as a regular in Jose Mourinho's side since his arrival from Atletico Madrid for £15.8 million last summer.

The Brazil international has been forced to play second fiddle to Cesar Azpilicueta and Atletico are reportedly weighing up a move to bring him back to the Vicente Calderon.
Chelsea are drawing up a list of potential replacements should Luis leave and Cresswell figures highly on their wanted list after impressing in his first season in the Premier League.

Cresswell, 25, has been a revelation for West Ham since joining from Ipswich Town and his consistently high level of performances have seen him linked with an England call-up.

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Cresswell as they look to bolster their number of homegrown players quota for next season and now Chelsea have joined his list of suitors.

However, West Ham are keen to keep hold of the defender and are considering rewarding him for his progress with a new deal to try and fend off any potential move.

Hopefully he's excited at the prospect of being first choice LB for seasons to come at the OS.
I know it's a split between fans, but I'd imagine for players it's a no brainier and will be a decent place to work.

Not being all protective or sensitive (well actually I am) but if Cresswell used his brain he would be able to see so much evidence in the last, say, five seasons of young English players wasting their careers by going to big clubs.

Just hope he doesn't get lured by the fatal attraction of money, fame and (so called) European football. Because if he goes to Chelsea he will get two of those but won;t get the European football because he won't be in the team. End of.

He seems like a very down to earth, hard-working, decent young fella so I really hope he stays and matures into, what I think, the top player can become.

No sources so I'm going to say it's made up but if it is true then my dislike of Chelsea will enter another dimension as Cresswell is the best left back we've had for some years.

I don't get this obsession with Mings. Every time I've seen him he's merely been athletic. Not enough quality on the ball and not in Cresswell's league in my opinion.

Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
He'd be an idiot to go and sit on Chelsea or City's bench at his age.

Hope his head isn't turned and we get at least a few more years from him, or at least a fucking huge transfer fee...

Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
Roe, very true mate and to be fair Cresswell does come across as grounded and would look at a move only if it benefits his career. At the moment he is up there with the very best of the left backs in the league and his first season in the premier league has shown what a player he is.
Still if Chelsea come sniffing with the chequebook and roman asks dave to name his price he may be tempted.
Let's be fair any player would want champions league football and to play with some of the best players in the country. Hazard or Nolan. No fucking brainer really.

Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
Here's a thing, lets tell these clubs were not selling and they can stick any offer.

Give him an improved contact to keep him happy and build on the defence.

Be great to have two decent young left backs fights over the shirt next season.

Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
Luke Shaw was £30m and he is better than that fat fuck.
English players are in demand for these teams squads and the going price is 3 times a foreign player.

Very good players are going to (usually) want to go to big clubs but based on previous experience going as a promising player or up and comer doesn't go well (Wright-Phillips, Sinclair, Rodwell etc).
You should go when you have made the England team and are going as first choice ie like Ashley Cole did.
Cresswell shouldn't even think about it for a couple of seasons and only on those terms.

Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
Not really shocked our fans moan for years and years about selling our best players, then moan and moan we have no players worth selling and then the moment we have a few want to sell them..

You do know Sullivan isn't going to split the profit with you don't ya?

Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
anything above £10m you would have to consider........... above £15m you need a very good reason to say 'no'.

soon as he signs for them or city he will get an england call-up straight away.

Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
" Will come down to £££ as per usual. "

That doesn't apply all players to be fair and Cresswell and his old man are very down to earth balanced people. He'll get a new deal here to keep him happy enough.

How many English players have Chelsea, Man City or Arsenal brought that have played on a regular basis?

Stevethehammer 11:41 Fri Apr 10
Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
Go and sit on the bench for Chelsea or play week in week out at West Ham. Tough choice eh. Will come down to £££ as per usual.
To be fair to DS we haven't really sold anyone that is unreplaceble since he has arrived, baring the relegation season.

"Can I see Jenks going to LFC... ?? Yeah big possibility"

I doubt it, he was bombed out of Liverpool as a kid and that gave his old man the right hump

Re: Chelsea after Cresswell
So they want him to replace Filipe Luis as reserve to Azpilicueta?

There is your problem with English football.
A permanent first choice offered the chance to go and play dead Champions league games and League Cup ties.

The answer Chelsea should be NO for the sake of the player and English football.
While they are on the line I'd ask them to name a price for Hazard.

Ron - the transfer kitty is supposed to be 50m. Now imagine what you could do with 90m!
